The Paranormal Investigation Group of New England conducted a preliminary daytime investigation of a haunted site locally referred to as Maud's Grave. There are many speculations and rumors regarding Maud, her passing, and even the site of her burial. PIG-NE has completed this investigation, has the exact location of her burial site, and to our knowledge the only legitimate photos of the site on the web. This investigation was also used for the purpose of training new members, hence the reason why we chose to do a daytime investigation.

Tabitha's Report-
This was PIG-NE's first investigation of the Maud's grave site located in Pachaug Forest in the town of Voluntown, CT. After a long trek up a muddy path and arriving at the site, we said a prayer of protection. Our group split into three teams to investigate three possible sites and their surrounding areas. Tabitha, Nikki, Debbie, and Sophia were on the first team. Kat took Fred, William, and Kristin. And Dan R. led the team of himself, Mike, and Dan H. Tabitha's team started at the gravesite itself, while Kat's team went to the house foundation, and Dan R.'s team went to the second foundation. Each team spent approximately twenty minutes (more or less) at each site, then rotated to a new location. Many group members in each team reported personal experiences, including shortness of breath, the smell of smoke or fire, overwhelming sadness, and in one instance, a feeling of heat creeping up two members' legs to just past the knees. Sophia also reported being pushed, although she says that it did not seem hostile, but more for getting her attention. There were also many occasions where drastic temperature dips were recorded, the lowest of these being minus four degrees fahrenheit.

So far in the course of examining our footage and possible evidence, we have not found any photographic evidence from digital cameras. We have four 35mm film rolls that still need to be developed. We did find many EVPs, a couple of class-A ones, but mostly class-B and class-C. Some of our findings are located below. Although we have not quite finished going through our evidence, I personally would have to say that this site is definately haunted, due to the instances of personal experiences and also the more than twenty EVPs of varying qualities that we have discovered. There are four EVPs listed below, and more will be added as we isolate and post them.
PIG-NE considers this case to be ongoing. We are planning another excursion to Pachaug State Forest within the next month. Our second portion of the investigation will take place at night, and hopefully with drier ground conditions.
Kat's Report-
Each group did a great job of staying open minded and positive during the duration of the investigation. Each group worked each location for about 25-40 minutes collecting photos, digital voice recordings (DVR) and digital video (VDR).
Great findings for Kat's group. Kat lead a group of paranormal enthusiasts who were more than helpful in this investigation. Kristin recorded video for a brief time however, the memory card filled up very quickly so she switched over to disposable cameras. William took 35mm photos with a Pentax Sportsmatic and Fuji 400 speed film. The photos have not been developed yet. Due to the fact we did not have an electromagnetic field detector (EMF), we had Fred in charge of watching a compass during the investigations. Fred, being an outdoors man, noticed many times that the compass would read in the wrong direction. During these times, Kat would received strange temperature readings on her non-contact IR thermometer. These readings were as low as -7f to -4f range. Kat tested theories that the there might be mechanical failure, however after switching the batteries, she noticed that the batteries where not low and that it read the proper temperature of her surface skin of 86*F. During our first stop on the investigation, Kat recorded many stop and go recordings on DVR and had great findings. On several files PIG-NE found many EVP pickups. Particularly the EVP following the question, "Can you tell me your name?" The response on EVP was "Clea." followed by what sounded like a short "ha ha."
Dan's Team-
Many interesting results came from each medium. The DVD made by Dan's team provided much-needed comic relief after listening to hours of DVR recordings. Dan R. recorded on a Hitachi camcorder that records straight to DVD and formats on the spot, which made it easy for those in our group without computers or DVD drives in our computers. Dan R. wasn't sure that there was the "ghost" factor that day, although Mike got interesting readings on his non-contact thermometer. Readings in one of the locations which we referred to as the "meeting house" location (because of the feeling of calm, comfort and welcome), showed readings of as low as -7*F. Mike also spent some time drawing a map of the foundations and findings at the site to reference back for a future "revisit" of the location. Mike also took photos and videos with nothing of interest or of a "questionable" nature. The videos have not yet been fully examined for background electronic voice phenomenon (EVP.) Dan H. was focused on taking 35mm photos and reported tightness of the chest, and he said his face began to hurt when he entered the "house" foundation. Dan H.'s pictures have not yet been developed.
Dan and Mike, however, reported no physical anomalies of any kind.
All in all, this investigation was a great choice. PIG NE was blessed with a dust free sunny, warm winter day. Everyone had fun and it yielded more than interesting results.
